Burnley were held to a goalless draw against Derby County on Tuesday night, as Scott Parker's side extended their Sky Bet Championship run to 28 matches, as well as ending the Rams' winning run at Pride Park.

In a tight contest, the Clarets did have chances to win the game, but a stubborn County defence meant the points were shared in the Midlands, in which saw a 29th clean sheet of the campaign secured.

Head Coach Scott Parker named just the one change from Saturday’s win over Coventry City, with Zian Flemming coming back into the XI for Lyle Foster.

After a fairly quiet opening 10 minutes, the Clarets’ first effort on target came from Flemming’s fierce strike inside the area, but Rams keeper’ Jacob Zetterström was equal to it and pushed it wide for a corner.

Marcus Edwards then looked to be on course to score a goal of the season contender, after racing forwards past several County players and weaving into the area, before firing over the target.

Burnley were dominating and created another chance midway through the first-half, but Flemming could only guide Lucas Pires’ cross over the crossbar.

Derby carved open a glorious chance of their own before half-time, as Josh Laurent made a crucial block to keep out Jerry Yates’ close range goal bound shot.

Despite a late spell of pressure from the hosts with the half-time whistle on the horizon, the two sides went into the break goalless.

With no side able to create any clear opportunities in the first 20 minutes of the first-half, Flemming then came close to curling home the opener from outside the area, but the forward’s strike sailed just wide.

Parker then turned to his bench moments after that, with Foster replacing Laurent, as the Clarets pushed for a winning goal.

However, the striker’s evening only lasted a few minutes, after an injury saw Foster make way for Hannibal with 15 minutes left to play.

Hannibal did test the hands of Zetterström with an effort from inside the box, before Rams defender Matt Clarke headed wide of the goal from close range in stoppage time, which turned out to be the final chance.

Ashley Barnes was introduced with just over five minutes left of normal time, but the Clarets were forced to leave Derby with a point.

The result means Burnley extend their unbeaten league run to 28 consecutive matches and a 29th clean sheet of the campaign, with attention now turning towards Friday night's clash with Norwich City at Turf Moor.
