Burnley came from behind to claim another impressive victory in the Sky Bet Championship and extend their unbeaten run to 27 matches on Saturday afternoon, as Jaidon Anthony found the back of the net in both halves to cancel out Coventry City's opener.

The Sky Blues took a controversial early lead in the fifth minute through Haji Wright, after the striker steered home the opener from an offside position to give Frank Lampard’s side the advantage.

However, the Clarets responded shortly after with a well-worked goal, after Anthony slotted home from close range to pull the scores level.

Burnley’s second goal of the afternoon then came just a minute into the second-half, as Anthony took advantage of a defensive mix-up and fired through the legs of Brad Collins and into an empty goal.

Head Coach Scott Parker named just one change from last Saturday’s win over Bristol City, with Lyle Foster replacing Zian Flemming in attack.

Despite the Clarets starting on the front foot and having an early shot on target through Anthony, City took the lead against the run of play with five minutes on the clock.

A counter attack sparked from Milan Van Ewijk saw the full-back pick out Jamie Allen, who forced Trafford to tip his low struck effort onto the post, only for Wright to steer it home from an offside position to give the hosts the lead.

However, Burnley responded shortly after with a slick move, as Josh Cullen raced into the area to pull the ball back for Foster, who flicked it into the path of Anthony to slot home into an empty goal and draw the scores back level.

The Sky Blues did come close to regaining the lead on the half-hour mark, as Jay Dasilva’s stinging ball into the area narrowly missed the foot of Wright lurking from close range.

In an end-to-end first-half and a lively encounter, the Clarets then carved open another chance of their own, but Anthony just couldn’t quite connect onto Josh Brownhill’s pass, with the winger unmarked at the far post.

The final opportunity of the opening 45 fell to Josh Laurent, after Marcus Edwards saw his curled effort blocked into the path of Laurent, whose dipping volley sailed over the target from the edge of the box.

With only a few seconds of the second-half played, Burnley got off to a dream start after Brad Collins failed to gather the ball outside the area, with Anthony taking advantage and poking it through the legs of the keeper into an empty net to give the visitors the lead.

Parker’s side came close to adding a third not long after that, but Foster could only see his effort from a right angle palmed away by the hands of Collins.

The away side then made their first change of the afternoon, as Flemming replaced Edwards with 20 minutes left to play, before Parker introduced Hannibal six minutes later for Brownhill.

Despite a late flurry of pressure from the hosts to try snatch a late equaliser, Burnley's defence stood strong to ensure the three points returned to Lancashire.
