Burnley are back in Sky Bet Championship action on Saturday afternoon, as Scott Parker's men take on Coventry City at the CBS arena live on Sky Sports Football.

The Clarets head to Coventry in fine form on a 26 match unbeaten run in the Championship and will be looking to continue that this weekend.

A win for Burnley on Saturday could lift Parker's side back into the automatic promotion places, with the Clarets sat third but joint second on goal difference with Leeds United.

Saturday's opponents City are on a strong run of their own, despite suffering defeat last time out against Sheffield United, Frank Lampard's side have won 10 of their last 13 fixtures, which sees them in the play-off places.

The opposition

The Sky Blues are in their fifth consecutive campaign in the Sky Bet Championship, after achieving promotion back to the second tier in the 2019/20 season.

After reaching the top-flight in 1968, Coventry went on to establish themselves in the First Division, staying there until 2001, before relegation back to the Championship.

That was just the start of some tough years ahead for City on and off the pitch, as the Sky Blues then found themselves relegated once again in 2012, but this time to League One.

Off-field issues with the club going into administration the following year meant Coventry would go on to play their home games at Northampton and Birmingham City, with a relegation to League Two then coming in 2017.

It took them just one season to return to League One, with an instant promotion via the play-offs, before rising back to the Championship in 2020 and then returning to the CBS Arena in 2021.

Progress has been made since returning to the second tier, after a 16th place finish in the first year back was followed by 12th the following season. A play-off place was secured in 2022/23 and then a 9th place finish and an FA Cup semi-final last season.

What Scott Parker said

“My main focus is Coventry. We go to Coventry, we prep right this week, and we go and bring over the best version of ourselves, try and execute a game that we go and win and that’s another ticked off. Then onto the next and we try and do exactly the same.

“It’s another tough challenge; we’ve come out of the Bristol game which was another tough challenge. Another team that were going for a play-off spot.

“Coventry are exactly the same, Frank’s gone in and done an incredible job and they’re on a really good run, good form. So, there’s a challenge ahead of us but I couldn’t tell you a fixture coming up that isn’t going to be a challenge, this is where we are now in the season, teams have got things to play for, relegation, play offs, and we’re obviously on our journey to try and do what we need to do as well.”
