Burnley's unbeaten run in the Sky Bet Championship was extended to six matches on Saturday afternoon, as the Clarets played out a 0-0 draw with Preston North End at Turf Moor.
There were chances for both sides to break the deadlock in the Lancashire derby, but neither team could quite find the cutting edge, with the points being shared in a tight contest.
Boss Scott Parker named an unchanged XI from the side that beat Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday night, with Connor Roberts and Zian Flemming included on the bench following their returns from injury.
After a quiet start between the two sides, a chance fell Preston’s way with 15 minutes played, but Ali McCann rifled well over the target from inside the area.
Burnley’s first real opportunity then came midway through the first half, as Lucas Pires threaded a lovely through ball into the path of Jaidon Anthony, who cut inside and into the box, before unleashing an effort towards the bottom corner but Freddie Woodman was equal to it.
Former Claret Robbie Brady then tested Trafford, as the Irishman caught the ball on the volley from the edge of the area but the Burnley No.1 had it covered.
North End had another chance a minute later, when a deflected cross into the area fell to McCann, but the midfielder smashed it over the target from yards out.
The visitors then had another opportunity in stoppage time of the first-half, when Kaine Kesler-Hayden struck the crossbar from a tight angle.
There wasn’t much between the two sides in the first-half, with both teams having spells but neither able to break the deadlock.
There was a half-time change for the hosts, as Parker introduced Roberts for Bashir Humphreys.
Despite minimal chances for both sides in the first 20 minutes of the second-half, there was no lacking in intensity, as a flurry of challenges from both sides kept the derby atmosphere ticking over.
Parker then made his second change of the afternoon, as Flemming was introduced for Hannibal, before Sarmiento replaced Anthony shortly after, as the Clarets searched for an opener.
Despite efforts from both sides to steal a winner as the clock ticked down, both defences stood strong to ensure the honours where shared at Turf Moor.
