Burnley came from behind to secure all three points in dramatic fashion at Turf Moor, as Josh Brownhill struck home a 94th minute winner against Portsmouth on Saturday afternoon in a 2-1 victory.
Pompey forward Callum Lang opened the scoring from close range just before half-time for the visitors, before substitute Jeremy Sarmiento curled home the equaliser moments after being introduced in the second half.
With the clock ticking down and into the fourth minute of the eight added, Brownhill then fired home from the edge of the box to ensure the win for the hosts.
Scott Parker made three changes to the side that beat Leeds United last weekend, as Josh Cullen, Lyle Foster and CJ Egan-Riley all came into the XI replacing Josh Laurent, Zian Flemming and the suspended Bashir Humphreys.
There wasn’t much to separate the two sides in the opening 20 minutes at Turf Moor, despite Burnley dominating possession, the visitors were standing stubborn to keep the hosts at bay.
The first real opportunity of the game came midway through the first half, when Pompey defender Connor Ogilvie rose highest and glanced Marlon Pack’s corner onto the inside of the post.
Burnley looked to respond to that scare, as Lucas Pires saw a half-volley from outside the area sail over the target, before Luca Koleosho teed up Foster inside the area, only for the South African striker to see his effort blocked by Regan Poole.
However, with half-time approaching, it was Portsmouth who broke the deadlock as Josh Murphy picked out Paddy Lane, who made a surging run into the area and squared across the face of goal for Lang to turn home from close range and put the visitors ahead.
With the away side leading at the break, Burnley came out pushing for an equaliser and forced a couple of corners, with one eventually falling to Koleosho at the back-post, but the winger could only fire over the crossbar.
Trailing with half-an-hour to play, Parker then turned to his bench, as Hannibal and Anthony made way for Sarmiento and Flemming in search of a way back into the game.
The Burnley boss got the exact reaction he was looking for, as it took the Ecuadorian winger just two minutes to make an instant impact and pull the scores level.
Sarmiento picked up the ball on the edge of the area and cut inside onto his right foot, before curling it home past Will Norris into the far corner to level the scoring.
Fellow substitute Flemming then had an opportunity of his own, when the Dutchman broke into the area and forced a corner with his low drilled effort.
Parker's men were looking dangerous in every attack with the clock ticking down and deep into stoppage time, the Clarets had their winning goal.
Brownhill received the ball on the edge of the box and fired into the bottom corner leaving Norris stranded between the posts as Burnley stormed their way to victory.
