Good afternoon, welcome to Turf Moor for our game against Portsmouth.
It was a fantastic win at Elland Road on Saturday. Leeds United away is one of the toughest games in the league so I’m delighted that we managed to come away with the three points on the day.
It was one of those games that had a bit of everything, a real battle! And I’m proud of Scott and the team for the performance.
In other positive news Josh Cullen, Luca, and Maxime all signed contract extensions recently, and we welcomed John Egan onboard.
I was pleased with the players’ desire to commit to the Club, and they all spoke of their excitement at being part of what we are building here. This mindset is vitally important for us to be a successful group, and I want to congratulate Josh, Luca, Maxime, and John on their new deals!
Alongside Burnley FC in the Community, we recently announced our Official Community Partner for the 2024/25 season, Burnley Together.
To launch the partnership Scott visited the organisation’s Down Town facility, which is based in the town centre, and provides various services including a community-based grocery store, pre-loved school uniform shop, a book exchange area, and café.
We’ve been blown away by the work that is carried out there, with Scott describing the visit as humbling. It’s also an excellent example of local organisations Calico, Burnley FC in the Community, Burnley Leisure and Culture, Burnley Council, and the Message Trust, working together to make a real difference. I’m so pleased that as a Club we have pledged our support for such a worthwhile cause.
In my notes for the Cardiff City game, I spoke of our commitment towards ensuring female fans feel comfortable whilst at the stadium. This was following some feedback that we received from female members of our Fan Advisory Board.
I’ve been vocal about my stance on this issue and as a Club we have been working hard to tackle some of the concerns raised. In today’s programme Ann-Marie Bradley, our Head of HR and ED&I Lead, talks about some of our new initiatives including our updated reporting line, internal Female Focus Group, Female Fan Survey, and new Safeguarding Stewards.
This is a key area of focus for us, and we’ll never stop moving forever forward to ensure that everybody feels welcome and valued at Turf Moor.
Staying on the subject, our women’s team play West Bromwich Albion Women at Turf Moor tomorrow afternoon and tickets are still available to purchase online and at the Ticket Office.
They are great occasions and a wonderful opportunity to inspire the next generation of female footballers. So, I’d encourage any Clarets to come along and show their support for Bex and the team!
Now, I’m pleased to be back on home turf for today’s Championship clash. Enjoy the game everybody and let’s aim for another three points.
UTC!
Alan
