Burnley were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday night, as the Clarets extended their Sky Bet Championship undefeated run to 24 matches.

The Baggies took the lead through John Swift’s free-kick, before Zian Flemming turned home the equaliser just three minutes later.

There were chances for both sides in the second-half to win it, with Jaidon Anthony hitting the crossbar, but the points were to be shared at Turf Moor.

A last-ditch penalty appeal from the Clarets for handball was waved away by referee Gavin Ward, who then awarded two red cards after the full-time whistle to Scott Parker and CJ Egan-Riley.

Head Coach Parker made two changes from the side that won 4-0 on the weekend, as Hannibal and Flemming came back into the XI for Josh Laurent and Lyle Foster.

After a fairly quiet start between both sides, with no real efforts on goal, the Baggies struck the opener with 18 minutes on the clock.

Having been brought down on the edge of the area, Swift stepped-up to take the set-piece and rifled it over the wall into the back of the net.

However, that lead lasted just three minutes, as the Clarets snatched their equaliser when Flemming latched onto Joe Wildsmith’s parried save from Lucas Pires’ effort to poke home from close range.

The Baggies did carve open another opportunity just after the half-hour mark, when Grady Diangana threaded Adam Armstrong in on goal, but the on-loan striker could only fire at James Trafford.

Burnley had the final opportunity towards goal with just a few minutes left of the first-half when a corner fell to Hannibal inside the area, but Albion defender Ousmane Diakite was there to make a vital block.

The Clarets came out on the front foot in the second-half and Jaidon Anthony was a whisker away from putting the hosts ahead. After twisting and turning inside the area the winger curled a wicked strike which kissed the top of the crossbar.

Parker turned to his bench for the first change of the night on the hour mark, as Flemming departed with Foster replacing the goal scorer.

The Clarets made another change 10 minutes later when Laurent replaced Hannibal as the hosts searched for a winner - the trio of Ashley Barnes, Jeremy Sarmiento and Luca Koleosho being introduced with three minutes left on the clock.

Despite pushing for a late goal and seeing a late penalty appeal turned down, Ward blew the whistle and brought a close to the game, before showing red cards to both Parker and Egan-Riley after full-time.
