Burnley fell to a narrow home defeat against Chelsea on Saturday lunchtime, despite creating a flurry of opportunities in a tight contest.

In a game of few clear-cut chances, a goal in each half from Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez proved to be the difference at Turf Moor.

Neto headed home on 37 minutes, arriving unmarked at the back post to open the scoring, before Fernandez made it two from close range late om, as Enzo Maresca's side secured a third Premier League victory on the bounce.

Scott Parker named an unchanged side from the team that featured last time out against West Ham United.

It was a lively start to the lunchtime kick-off, with the Clarets starting brightly, creating a couple of half-chances in the opening 10 minutes.

Former Blues man Lesley Ugochukwu picked out the unmarked Quilindschy Hartman at the back-post with a delightful cross, but his cut-back into the area was intercepted, before Loum Tchaouna raced through on goal, only for the towering legs of Tosin Adarabioyo to deny the French forward.

Chelsea were struggling to get a real foot-hold in the game, with Liam Delap carving open the first chance on goal for the visitors, but the striker’s lashed effort sailed well over the crossbar from outside the box.

Moments after that, the Clarets had another opportunity - this time it was Jaidon Anthony who darted through towards the area and lined up a strike towards goal, only for Andrey Santos’ well-timed sliding block to keep it out.

In a dominant opening 10 minutes, Anthony had another chance just two minutes later, but again Adarabioyo was there to make a crucial last-ditch block inside the box.

Parker’s side were enjoying their football and plenty of possession and worked a lovely move, which saw Tchaouna rifle a first-time effort straight into the hands of Robert Sanchex from 25-yards out.

The Blues then looked to have created a golden opportunity just after the half-hour mark, as Delap played a through ball into the feet of the onrushing Neto, who slid the ball across the face of goal aiming for Jamie Gittens at the back-post, but Kyle Walker was there to make an excellent sliding challenge and deny a guaranteed goal for the away side.

However, shortly after, Enzo Maresca’s side were ahead - as Neto was there to meet Gittens’ in-swinging cross at the back-post, heading home unmarked into the bottom corner.

That turned out to be the final action of the half, as Chelsea headed into the break with a slender lead.

The second-half didn’t start as lively as the opening period, with the first real chance of note coming on the hour mark.

Neto received the ball inside the area, but his fierce strike struck the outside of the post, before Cullen cleared the danger.

Burnley came close to an equaliser just before the 70th minute, as Hartman’s ball into the area found Flemming, but the forward could only steer his shot over the target from inside the box.

With still only a single goal being the difference and over 20 minutes left to claw an equaliser, Parker made a triple change, as Lyle Foster, Armando Broja and Hannibal replaced Ugochukwu, Anthony and Flemming.

The Clarets made another change shortly after, as Jacob Bruun Larsen replaced Tchaouna.

However, it was the away side who looked like they would double their lead with 76 minutes played, but substitute Malo Gusto saw his strike from the edge of area tipped over the crossbar by Dubravka.

The Blues weren't to be denied though, as Fernandez doubled the visitors' advantage two minutes from time, when the Argentine fired home after a fine run from Marc Guiu, which sealed the three points for the away side.
