Despite a battling second half display from Burnley after trailing at the break, the Clarets suffered a 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the Boxing Day evening clash.
Darwin Nunez struck home the opener with six minutes played at Turf Moor before Diogo Jota added a second in stoppage time of the second half.
Although the Clarets created plenty of opportunities in the second half and enjoyed impressive spells of possession, the hosts just couldn't quite find the back of the net in a frustrating night for Vincent Kompany's side.
Kompany made one change from the side that beat Fulham on the weekend as Mike Tresor was named in the starting XI replacing Jacob Bruun Larsen.
First Half
The Clarets started brightly and carved open an opportunity when a counter attack saw Amdouni drive towards goal but his effort sailed wide of the post.

But just a minute later Liverpool had their opener when Nunez fired home low into the bottom corner after receiving Gakpo’s pull-back on the edge of the area.
Klopp’s men came close to a second moments later through Salah’s strike but an excellent tip over the crossbar from Trafford saw the Reds earn their first corner of the game.
Despite conceding early on, the Clarets were looking for an instant response and came close when Brownhill’s low drilled effort was struck just wide of the target.
The Reds looked to have added a second on the half-hour mark when Gakpo hammered in a loose ball from inside the area but the goal was disallowed for Nunez’s foul on Taylor in the build-up.
With Liverpool creating a flurry of opportunities, Salah then rattled the crossbar after latching onto Gravenberch’s long ball over the Burnley defence but the Egyptian could only hit the crossbar.

The visitors had another chance just before the break when Endo weaved into a dangerous position before seeing his low shot aiming for the bottom corner pushed wide by Trafford., who impressed throughout the first half.
Second Half
After a fairly even contest in the opening 10 minutes of the second half, the Reds looked to have doubled their lead but was once again ruled out by VAR for offside. Elliot tapped in from Gravenberch’s pass but Salah was in an offside position blocking the view of Trafford.
The score remained at just 0-1 and it then saw the Clarets enjoy a spell of possession and momentum forcing a couple of corner as Kompany’s side looked for an equaliser.
Burnley were looking to make the most of the momentum, first Berge saw his half-volley fizz wide of the post before substitute Gudmundsson then guided Odobert’s teasing cross just over the crossbar from close range as an equaliser was looking closer and closer for the hosts.
