Clarets head to Merseyside to take on the Reds

Vincent Kompany’s side face Liverpool on Saturday afternoon (3pm) in the Premier League as Burnley travel to Anfield.

The Clarets take on Jurgen Klopp’s side in what is set to be a record-league attendance for the hosts with over 60,000 at Anfield following their recent stadium expansion.

Burnley have only lost once on their last three visits to Merseyside, picking up a win alongside a draw and a defeat in the previous three encounters at Liverpool.

Kompany’s side will be backed by another sold-out away end as the Clarets look to build on last weekend’s comeback at Turf Moor.

Form Guide

The Clarets travel to Anfield off the back of a 2-2 draw with Fulham at Turf Moor last weekend as substitute David Datro Fofana came off the bench to grab a brace and ensure the points were shared.

Burnley’s last trip on the road came last Wednesday when Kompany’s men suffered a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City with Ameen Al-Dakhil scoring a late consolation goal at the Etihad.

Liverpool meanwhile head into this weekend after falling to a first defeat in the Premier League since September as the Reds lost 3-1 on Sunday at the Emirates.

Klopp’s side, who still sit top of the league table, have not lost at Anfield this season and have won nine of their 11 fixtures on home turf, drawing twice.

What Vincent Kompany said

“It’s football. Things happen in the game. All we know is that when you go to Anfield you’ve got to do everything right and a few things need to go your way as well.

“The biggest thing we can control is what we have to do on the day and that’s how we prepare for this game. The belief is always there. When you start the Championship season and all of our players are gone and you have to gear up for a new season, the starting ingredient of anything is always belief.

“That was there at the time, that’s there right now and it’s still going to be there always. On the side of belief you need good doses of hard work, but these ingredients are there.”
