Johann Berg Gudmundsson insists the Clarets must be at their best on Saturday at Anfield to leave Merseyside with a result but is well aware of the danger the Premier League leaders will pose.
The Clarets take on Liverpool after securing a point last weekend against Fulham and Gudmundsson says the side can use that comeback as a ‘stepping stone’ to try do ‘something special’ this weekend.
Speaking on Thursday ahead of the clash, the Iceland midfielder highlighted the importance of the side having belief going into the game and aiming to get a ‘run of results going’.
“The Fulham game could be a stepping stone for us to do something bigger and on Saturday we know it's going be difficult, but why not go to Anfield and try to do something special.
“It’s been a while since we have won a game, but we all have belief that it’s possible. Everybody must believe around the Club, the players, the staff and that’s how it is here, and we’ll keep doing that.
“As I said, we must believe that we can go there and get some points. I know it's going to be difficult, but belief is key for us.
"We know it will be difficult, but in the situation we’re in we need to pick up points everywhere we can regardless of the opposition.
“We need to try to get a run of results going, we got a point last weekend, now it’s about building on that so why not go get a result at Liverpool."

Liverpool are unbeaten on home turf this season in all competitions, but Gudmundsson has been part of a Burnley side that ended the Reds' 68-game unbeaten home run of nearly four years in 2021, as well as a 1-1 draw in the previous season at Anfield.
The 33-year-old says the Clarets can 'look at the positives' of what the team have achieved there in previous visits but admits the defensive side of Burnley's game against Jurgen Klopp's side will need to be 'extremely good'.
“I mean, Burnley’s record over there is not bad to be honest. So, we can look at that and look at the positives we've done there over the last few years.
“It’s a great stadium to play in and a great atmosphere, but it’s something you have to enjoy. You enjoy going to these places, especially for the new lads for the first time.
“They’re a really good team, we know that. Obviously, there’s some fantastic players in their team and they play a bit more football than they used to.
“Defensively, you must be extremely good. They've got really good players that can at any time in the game, they can break up the game and do something special.

“So, it's about concentration for every minute of the game. Being ruthless in all the things you do. Set up corners, set up for throw ins to try to score from anything you can, even a free-kick. Just use every moment to your advantage and try to get a result.
“We’re going to be defending for a lot of the game but when the opportunities come, we need to take them and we know it’s possible, it’s been done before.”
