Clarets back at home to host the Canaries under the lights

Scott Parker's side are back at Turf Moor on Friday night, as the Clarets host Norwich City in the Sky Bet Championship live on Sky Sports Main Event.

Burnley go into Friday's fixture 28 matches unbeaten in the league and a victory for the hosts would see Parker's side move back into top spot prior to the weekend's matches.

The Clarets currently sit 2nd in the Championship, behind leaders Leeds United on goal difference and two points ahead of 3rd placed Sheffield United.

City head to Lancashire in 11th place and nine points off the play-off places, after a goalless draw with Sunderland on Tuesday night.

The opposition

It's certainly been a period of ups and downs over the last decade for the Canaries, with four Premier League relegations and three Championship promotions.

Playing the majority of their football throughout their history across the top two tiers, City found themselves drop from the Premier League down to League One in just five seasons, after relegation from the Championship in 2009.

However, back-to-back promotions under Paul Lambert saw the Canaries back in the top-flight in 2011 and City managed to secure two impressive top-half finishes, before dropping back to the Championship in 2014.

Despite bouncing straight back and achieving another promotion to the Premier League the following season via the play-offs, Norwich were relegated once again in 2016.

Four seasons between 2018 and 2022 saw City win the Championship trophy on two occasions and finish bottom of the top-tier and since relegation in 2022, the Canaries are yet to return.

The closest to a return came last season, as Norwich reached the play-off places, but were defeated over two-legs in the semi-finals by Leeds United.

After David Wagner's departure following the conclusion of last season, City appointed Johannes Hoff Thorup ahead of the current campaign.

"We've got a tough game ahead of us and certainly some learning from the last time we played them.

"Looking back at that game and referencing it, there were some problems in their structure and we've gone over that in terms of working through that.

"They're a really good side that have been in this division for a few years and been in the Premier League as well. They've got talent, which we understand can cause you problems."
