Clarets take on the Stags in FA cup action

Scott Parker's men return to Emirates FA Cup action this weekend, as Burnley host Mansfield Town at Turf Moor in the fourth round of the competition.

The Clarets head into Saturday's cup tie off the back of a 3-2 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night and will be aiming to continue their progress in the cup this weekend.

In the last round, Burnley ran out convincing 5-1 winners against Sky Bet Championship side Millwall, before being drawn against the Stags in round four.

Mansfield, who sit 12th in the Sky Bet League One table, head to Lancashire after beating Harrogate Town, Accrington Stanley and Sheffield United on their way to the fifth round.

Mansfield's Emirates FA Cup journey

Mansfield Town 3 - 2 Harrogate Town (01/11/2025)

The Stags' Emirates FA Cup journey began in November, when Town secured a 3-2 win over Harrogate Town at the One Call Stadium.

Regan Hendry gave the hosts an early lead, before Stephen Duke-McKenna levelled terms for the visitors just before the hour mark.

However that lead lasted just 10 minutes, as George Maris then put the Stags back in front, but Harrogate equalised once again in the 80th minute.

But the goals just didn't stop there though, as Mansfield bagged the winning goal in the 83rd minute, with Maris netting his second of the afternoon to book Town's place in the round two, to tee up a tie against Accrington Stanley.

Accrington Stanley 2 - 2 Mansfield Town (1-3 Pens) (06/12/2025)

Stanley were ahead at half-time via Isaac Heath's goal, before the Stags levelled through Will Evans' strike a few minutes into the second-half.

With nothing to separate the two teams, the cup tie then went into extra time, where Paddy Madden put the home side back infront, but the visitors struck again and Kyle McAdam's goal meant the clash would go to a penalty shoot-out.

The Stags went on to win 3-1 in Lancashire, which booked a third round encounter at Bramall Lane with Sheffield United.

Sheffield United 3 - 4 Mansfield Town (11/01/2026)

In what turned out to be a lively seven-goal thriller, Mansfield came out 4-3 winners against Championship opposition.

Former Blade Louis Reed bagged a first-half brace, either side of Gustavo Hamer's goal, with Town going into the break 2-1 up.

Lucas Akins then added a third of the afternoon in Sheffield five minutes into the second-half, before Rhys Oates bagged the fourth of the tie, with over half-an-hour still left to play.

Two goals in four minutes through Patrick Bamford and an own goal set up a nervy final 20 minutes, but Mansfield hung on to ensure their spot in the fourth round.

"The FA Cup is a special competition - it's a competition I hold in high value.

"I was brought up on it as a young boy, and some of my best memories growing up are of watching the FA Cup.

"We enjoyed a comfortable win against Millwall in our third-round tie, thanks to a really good performance, and we're all determined to continue to progress in this competition as far as possible."
