Clarets take on the Reds under the lights

Burnley are back at Turf Moor on Wednesday night, as Scott Parker's men host Manchester United in the Premier League.

The Clarets go into the midweek clash against the Red Devils aiming to kick off their first home game of 2026 with three points.

Parker's men remain six points off 17th place, prior to Tuesday night's fixture between West Ham and Nottingham Forest, but a victory over United on Wednesday could close that gap again to climbing out of the relegation zone.

The Reds travel to Burnley under interim charge of former midfielder Darren Fletcher, following Ruben Amorim's dismissal on Monday, with United sat 6th in the table with one win in their last five Premier League games.

The opposition

Manchester United are now in search of their seventh permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson's departure in 2013, after Ruben Amorim's 13 month tenure came to an end on Monday morning.

Former Reds midfielder Darren Fletcher is now in interim charge of United, in what has been a stop-start season at Old Trafford so far this campaign.

The Red Devils currently sit 6th in the Premier League table, after inconsistent results has seen them pick up wins against the likes of European chasing Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle, but draws against Wolves, West Ham United, Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth.

Wednesday's opponents have secured just two wins from their last seven league games, with those victories coming against Wolves in early December and Newcastle on Boxing Day, with draws against the Hammers, Bournemouth, Wolves and most recently Leeds United last weekend, in which proved to be Amorim's final match in charge.

Now under Fletcher's interim guidance, United will be aiming to change their fortune with results and climb back into the top-four contention, with the Reds just three points off 4th place.
