Liverpool
It was a summer of change at Anfield as boss Jurgen Klopp entered his ninth season in charge, after Liverpool finished outside the top four for the fist time since 2016.
Captain and long-serving midfielder Jordan Henderson ended his 12 year stay on Merseyside, whilst Roberto Firmino and James Milner both departed following their successful eight seasons with the Reds. Midfield duo Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also both left the club for Werder Bremen and Besiktas respectively.
A handful of outgoings meant replacements were needed for Klopp’s side and the signings of World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton, Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig, Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich and Japanese defensive midfielder Wataru Endo from Vfb Stuttgart certainly bolstered the sparse midfield areas.
After narrowly missing out on UEFA Champions League football for this season, the Reds have already topped their Europa League group and booked a Carabao Cup semi-final place with Fulham in the New Year.

Form Guide
The Clarets head into this festive fixture off the back of an impressive 2-0 win at Fulham on Saturday.
Kompany’s side will be looking to continue that on Tuesday but face a tough test coming up against the Reds.
Liverpool come into the game following a 1-1 draw at Anfield on Saturday with Arsenal which denied Klopp’s men top spot for Christmas.
The Reds are unbeaten in the Premier League since a 2-1 defeat at Spurs in September, which remains their only loss this season.

What Vincent Kompany said
“I don’t think I’m offending anyone by saying we’re probably not going to be the favourites on the day.
“We have to take the positivity from the Fulham game, we’re allowed to. Then we have to build into the next two days together with the fans to try and have a moment.
“For us there’s no point coming to this level if you’re not going to enjoy the prospect of playing against these teams. I hope the players do and the fans do.
“It’s another opportunity for us.”
