Hello,
Where does the time go? Christmas is upon us!
It’s been another busy year at the Club, with plenty of ups and downs, we’ve seen great success and new challenges. Winning the Championship title in style with 101 points, to adapting to life back in the Premier League. It’s been quite a 2023!
I believe that Christmas is an important time to reflect and take stock of everything that we’ve got. We have all seen the tragic events taking place in the world right now and my thoughts, and those of everybody at the Club, are with those affected.
Whilst the festive season offers the chance to look back on the year, it’s also the time to look ahead to all the opportunities of the upcoming year and I wanted to share with you our aims for Burnley FC for 2024.
Aims for 2024
Burnley FC’s Forever Forward
Following the success of last season, we all understood the challenge ahead of us in the Premier League.
We are competing with the best, in what is billed by many as the toughest league in the world.
Our return to the top-flight has been tough. However, I have full faith in Vincent, our squad and what we are building here. It’s a journey, we have a group of young, hungry players and a manager and coaching staff, whose attention to detail, dedication and passion for the game, is second to none.
We knew this season wasn’t going to be easy but, with that Burnley grit, determination and togetherness I’m convinced that we can do something special here.
Over the course of 2024, we’ll continue to push forward, push boundaries and push ourselves out of our comfort zone - to achieve great things at the Club.
Building Bridges
The Club’s integration in the town and ensuring we support the local community remains a key objective for us. Our charity partnership with Building Bridges Burnley is integral to this. We are extremely fortunate that our football club is embedded within a diverse community, and we will continue to build bridges across all faith denominations.
In September we pledged our ongoing commitment to equality and diversity for all, signing the Muslim Athlete Charter, and alongside Building Bridges Burnley, together we’ll make sure our work reaches more communities, offering the opportunity to welcome new people to Turf Moor to experience Burnley Football Club for the first time.
Enhancing Turf Moor
We’ve worked hard over the past 12 months, and will continue to do so, to make improvements to the stadium matchday experience.
We want a visit to Turf Moor on a matchday to be more than just 90 minutes.
The Jimmy McIlroy stand underwent impressive renovations this past year, to incorporate modern sports bar style lounges, street food, Game Zone and live music, and we increased our food & drink offering in the concourses with the introduction of self-order units.
The Rapidz Fan Zone has been developed, both indoor and outdoor and the launch of ‘Added Time’ in the Fan Zone, with food, drink and entertainment pre- and post-game encourages supporters to extend the matchday experience.
In the year ahead, we will continue to consult with our Fan Advisory Board to implement matchday initiatives, from new playlists to the introduction of flags, with the aim of enhancing the fan experience.
US presence
We’re thrilled to have fantastic investors in JJ and Kealia Watt & Dude Perfect - who have all taken this special part of Lancashire to their hearts. All have been advocates for our Club, spreading the word and increasing awareness.
It’s an exciting time for growth and the Premier League has a power that cannot be underestimated. We are actively exploring ways to bring the magic of our Club to supporters around the globe, including in the US.
We will be participating in events such as the Premier League Fan Fest in Orlando and collaborating with our US partners to grow support for the Clarets stateside and beyond.
Women’s football
It’s been no secret how passionate I am about women’s football and growing the game here.
At the time of writing, our women’s team are top of the Northern Premier Division of the FA Women’s National League, and we have ambitions to reach the Women’s Championship.
Our women’s team operations have expanded, with increased access to facilities at our training ground, a growing staff base and exciting commercial partnerships. We have also taken strides forward in increasing visibility and awareness of the women’s players in Club campaigns and across digital content. Our 2023/24 kit launches featured men and women’s players, with images of all on display in the Clarets Store and online - embracing our One Club for All ethos.
And finally, a message to you the fans…
Thank you. The support you show makes the world of difference in everything that we do here. We want to have you on this journey with us and we both share the same aim - to see our Club thrive as the beating heartbeat of this town.
Christmas is a special time of year. To all Clarets fans, wherever you may be celebrating, from myself and everybody at Burnley Football Club, I wish you a Merry Christmas with your families and loved ones.
UTC!
Alan
