Clarets take on the Toffees in festive clash

Scott Parker's men are back at home this weekend for the first of a Turf Moor double-header, with the Clarets taking on Everton on Saturday afternoon, before facing Newcastle United on Tuesday night.

Burnley go into the clash against the Toffees after picking up a point away to Bournemouth last weekend, which saw a losing run of seven games come to an end.

The Clarets still sit 19th in the Premier League table prior to the Christmas fixtures, but victory against Everton could close the gap once again.

David Moyes' men travel to Lancashire in 10th place, three points off 6th, with three defeats in their last five fixtures.

The opposition

It's fair to say it's been a mixed campaign for Everton so far this season, with the Toffees currently sat right in the middle of the Premier League table in 10th, that just about sums up their season so far, with seven wins, seven defeats and three draws.

Despite starting the campaign with an opening day defeat, the Toffees responded with two wins against Brighton and Wolves and a draw with Aston Villa.

Defeat to Liverpool in the Merseyside derby followed though, before drawing with the Hammers, but once again an up-and-down month in October saw Everton record one win and two defeats.

The Blues were then on track for an unbeaten and impressive November, after drawing away at Sunderland, David Moyes' men then picked up wins against Fulham and Manchester United, before a thumping 4-1 defeat at home to Newcastle concluded last month.

In their four results of December so far, the Toffees won their first two against Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest, but have lost their last two against Chelsea and Arsenal.

"I'm really hopeful we can produce good performances and results at Turf Moor over the coming matches.

"We need to make this a difficult place to come, because these fixtures coming up at home are going to be vital for us.

"I reference it constantly - but we're going to need our home supporters for sure.

"The run we've been on over the last few weeks, I understand it's not been easy for our supporters - but we're going to need their support on Saturday, that energy in the stadium that this time of the year always generates."
