Clarets head to Villa Park in Sunday clash

Burnley return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon, as the Clarets head to the Midlands to face Aston Villa.

Scott Parker's men head into the weekend aiming to add more points to the board and looking to claim a first away win of the campaign, before the October international break arrives.

The Clarets are yet to win on the road, after a tricky run of fixtures has seen defeats at Spurs, Manchester United and Manchester City.

Sunday's opponents Villa grabbed their first Premier League win of the season last weekend against Fulham, with wins in the UEFA Europa League over Bologna and Feyenoord either side of that victory at Villa Park.

The opposition

Following a tricky start to the 2025/26 campaign, Villa have recently picked up form, winning their last three games in all competitions.

Unai Emery's side drew their opening game of the season against Newcastle United, before back-to-back defeats against Brentford and Crystal Palace.

Villa followed that disappointing start up with draws against both Everton and Sunderland, with a Carabao Cup defeat to Brentford in-between them.

After four league games with no goals scored and yet to win, Emery's men then bagged their first goal of the campaign in a draw at Sunderland.

Since that point in the North East, the Midlands side have gone on to win their first Premier League game against Fulham, with wins over Bologna and Feyenoord in the UEFA Europa League either side of that victory.
