An update on how the Clarets on international duty have fared in the March fixtures

Nine of Scott Parker's men featured for their respective nations around the world over the past week in the March international fixtures schedule.

From 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, UEFA Nations League play-offs and friendly fixtures, read how the Clarets got on in the final international break of the campaign.

Josh Cullen (Ireland)

The central-midfielder helped Ireland retain their place in UEFA Nations League B, with Cullen playing 90 minutes in both games of the crucial two-legged play-off with Bulgaria.

Cullen, who is now on 42 caps for his country, put in an impressive performance in the first leg which saw him assist the winning goal in a 2-1 win, before helping Ireland to another 2-1 win in the return home fixture.

Hannibal (Tunisia)

Hannibal started in both of Tunisia's 2026 World Cup Qualifier wins against Liberia and Malawi, which now sees them top of their qualification group and four points ahead of second placed Namibia.

The midfielder completed 76 minutes in the first fixture last Wednesday with a 1-0 victory in Liberia, before making way in the 89th minute against Malawi on Monday night.

Lyle Foster (South Africa)

It was a successful international break for Foster, who started in both of South Africa's World Cup qualifiers, which now sees Bafana Bafana sat top of Group G.

The striker played 82 minutes in the first qualifier against Lesotho last weekend, which saw South Africa win 2-0, before he scored the opener in a 2-0 win over Benin on Tuesday night.

James Trafford (England)

Trafford was named in new England Boss Thomas Tuchel's first Three Lions squad for this month, after his eye-catching displays this season for the Clarets saw him earn another senior call-up.

Despite not featuring for England, the goalkeeper was named on the bench for both World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia, gaining some valuable experience.

CJ Egan-Riley (England U21s)

After featuring for England from U15-U19 level, this was Egan-Riley's first U21s call-up and he featured in both of the Young Lions' friendlies.

The defender started in the defeat to France last Friday, before coming off the bench and providing an assist in the victory over Portugal on Monday night.

Luca Koleosho (Italy U21s)

Called up to Italy's U21 side once again, Koleosho started and completed 72 minutes in the Azzurri's defeat to the Netherlands, before featuring as a substitute in Italy's draw with Denmark on Monday.

Connor Roberts (Wales)

Roberts started and played 90 minutes in Wales' opening World Cup Qualifier against Kazakhstan last weekend, which saw Craig Bellamy's side win 3-1.

The full-back was then named as a substitute in the Dragons' 1-1 draw with North Macedonia on Tuesday night, which sees Wales second in their qualifying group.

Manuel Benson (Angola)

Benson started in both of Angola's 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, with the winger playing just over an hour in both of their fixtures over the March international break.

Angola now sit third in Group D, just five points off top spot with six games played.

Oliver Sonne (Peru)

Sonne, who is on 12 caps for Peru, was an unused substitute for Peru in their two 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against Bolivia and Venezuela.
