Defender Ian Maatsen speaks for the first time after becoming a Claret on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
The 20-year-old becomes Vincent Kompany's and Burnley's seventh signing of the summer transfer window.
Maatsen on joining the Clarets:
“I’m excited to come here and play for Burnley. It’s a big club and a new challenge which I’m ready for.
“It’s a different town, but a new challenge. I look forward to meeting new people and this season will be good for me.”
Maatsen on Vincent Kompany:
“I knew that the interest was there, and Vincent Kompany is a Premier League legend. He knows what young players need to go through in their careers, so that’s why I chose to come here and work with him.
“He’s got a lot of experience in the football world. It can’t get much better than having him as a manager for me, I know it’s going to be good.
“It means a lot that he puts trust in young players like me, and I think it will be interesting to have a young team with a lot of fire.”

Maatsen on the season ahead and the upcoming training camp in Portugal:
“I really look forward to it. I’m in good shape and we’re going on Sunday to Lisbon to train hard and prepare ourselves for Huddersfield.
“I’m looking forward to being game ready for that first match, and I haven’t met all the lads yet, but on Sunday we’ll all come together.
“I’ll meet them, train with them, get a feeling for the group, and start building towards that Huddersfield game. I’m really excited.”
Maatsen on his game:
“I’m a player that loves football. I’m aggressive and on the front foot. I love to be on the ball and just look forward to playing in front of all the fans.
“I hope they support us all the way through, and we will make it a special season.”

Maatsen on his EFL experience:
“My first loan was with Charlton, and then with Coventry, so now I’m stepping up to a bigger club and in a big league, so it will be more interesting.
“There are more games in the Championship [than other leagues] but that’s what you play football for – big games, big crowds, and less training with more games.
“That’s why it’s important for me to get fit, stay fit, and continue playing games at a high level."
Maatsen on chasing his first senior international cap:
“I just need to be patient and work hard here. I believe in myself, and focus on the season, then things that come will come.”
