Burnley Football Club’s women’s team is saying goodbye to long-serving midfielder Lizzy Hamer, who has been with the team for nine years.
Having joined in 2015, Hamer was a key part of the squad that earned back-to-back promotions between 2017 and 2019.
Reflecting on her decision, she said: “After nine years, I have decided that it’s time for me to leave Burnley.
“A massive thank you to every single person who has been a part of this amazing journey and supported me along the way - players, staff, and fans.
“I’ve made friends for life and the most incredible memories that I will never forget.”
After two Covid-19 hit seasons, she then took to the third tier of women’s football well, racking up 51 appearances and scoring nine times in 2021/22 and 2022/23.
The 31-year-old continued to contribute heavily last season, featuring in every game, and proving invaluable with her positional flexibility.
Hamer has also featured in all three of the women’s team games that have taken place at Turf Moor.
Everybody at Burnley wishes Lizzy all the best for the future.
