When Heidi Logan joined Burnley last summer, it was a life decision that was important for her both on and off the pitch.
Having been on loan at Stoke City from Charlton Athletic in 2023/24, the forward made the decision to move to Lancashire as the next step in her career.
That meant having to move to a new part of the country and finding a solution to continue her degree studies, alongside doing her utmost to recover from an injury.
“With football you’ve got be used to moving away from home!” she said.
“It’s kind of the right club at the right time that you look for, rather than where it is.
“The move came about through the Club getting in touch with my agent and when the plan was described to me and the ambition of the Club, it attracted me.
“I was really impressed with what I think is a really good set up, and it’s good to be in and around a professional environment where we get a lot of support.
“I started off with a groin injury, which took a bit longer than we thought it would to recover from.
“When I finally did get back I overstretched for a ball and it clipped the edge of my toe, which resulted in a grade 2 MCL tear. That was another spell out, so I missed the whole of pre-season.
“It was really frustrating because you want to show what you’re about straight away when you sign for a new club, but I couldn’t do that.
“Because I lived up here it was easier as I got to know the girls I was living with. Uni didn’t start until later too, so I had a lot of time to watch the games too.”

As mentioned, the 23-year-old balanced playing for the Clarets with studying an undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Science last season.
Logan explained: “I did the final year of my degree this year, which occupied a lot of my time.
“I’m actually at Greenwich University and I’ve moved universities three times because of football, but I didn’t want to change this year with it being my final year.
“I’ve been doing it remotely which has been quite hard, because it’s not actually an online course.  I’ve kind of taught myself a lot of the content.”
With her degree now complete, Logan is set to be part of the Club’s first ever full-time professional squad for the 2025/26 season.
She’ll do so on the back of a strong first season in Lancashire, in which she managed 11 goals in 22 appearances.
The forward was utilised through the middle and on both flanks, with her pace and direct running causing problems for defenders throughout.
One of her best displays came against Liverpool Feds in February, when she netted a hat-trick as part of a 5-0 victory.
“I’ve always loved to play anywhere across the front line. If you’re versatile, you’re more unpredictable and defenders don’t know what you’re going to do.
“Personally, the Liverpool Feds game stands out because I was able to show more of what I’m about and I still think I’ve got more to show.
“It was my first hat-trick in a competitive game, and I was buzzing! I’ve had so many braces but have never been able to get the third one.”

A big part of settling into the area was Logan’s commitment to meeting supporters, and participants of Burnley FC in the Community’s projects.
Whether it be after one of the team’s four matches at Turf Moor this season or at a local college for an ETC session, she was at the heart of the team’s engagement schedule.
“Just to have that experience (playing at Turf Moor) is important for us because a few years ago that just wouldn’t happen for women’s football.
“To be at a club that supports women’s football means a lot to us all.
“It’s always important to give back to the community and speak to the fans, because it’s their time that they’re giving up to see us play.
“It’s nice to be able to give people advice and share our personal experiences, which hopefully the participants can take something from.”
With pre-season set to start later this month, Logan finished by looking ahead to the team’s return to Burnley Training Centre and the new campaign.
“I’m going to hold back a bit this pre-season, because I don’t want to injure my groin again!” she said.
“I’ll listen to my body and make sure I’m ready to go and fresh, both mentally and physically.
“Next season should be exciting because the league’s getting better every year. It will be even more competitive but that’s what you want – higher quality games.
“Our ambition was to get promoted and we didn’t, so that gives us even more hunger to do it next year.”
