The Clarets rounded off their pre-season training camp in Lisbon on Saturday with a training session with Newcastle United at the Portuguese Football Federation.
Vincent Kompany's squad, who have spent the last six days at the Portuguese FA centre, was split in to two different teams for a session with the Magpies.
An experienced Burnley side and a youthful XI played simultaneously in the scorching sun in the Portugal capital.
United were 4-1 ahead at the break against the younger Burnley side, with Ne-Jai Tucker on the scoresheet for the Clarets from the spot.
The second-half saw United edge out a 2-0 win through goals from Matt Ritchie and Jacob Murphy against.
Meanwhile, on the adjacent pitch, Saint-Maximin's close range effort was the difference in a 1-0 first-half victory.
And despite Ian Maatsen cancelling out Callum Wilson's opener in the second period, Miguel Almiron's effort proved to be the difference in a 2-1 win.
Manager Vincent Kompany said: "No injures is the main thing, I thought the running was good.
"It was competitive, there wasn't much in the game and we worked well.
"There was two very competitive squads out there, in us and Newcastle.
"I wanted to stretch the squad and see what our maximum capacity is, it's a good way to compare what we have."
