Burnley FC Women are delighted to announce the signing of Kirstie Levell, following her departure from FA Women’s Super League club Leicester City.
The goalkeeper joins up with her Clarets teammates ahead of the 2023/24 campaign opener against Liverpool Feds on Sunday 20th August.
Levell began her career with Everton, making her debut aged 18 in the 2015 WSL season before going on to become a mainstay in the side, winning the 2017 WSL 2 Spring Series title.
The 26-year-old then moved onto Leicester, joining in 2020 and becoming part of the Foxes squad that won the 2020/21 FA Women’s Championship.
Levell has represented England at U17, U19 and U23 level, representing the national side at both the UEFA Under-17 and Under-19 Women’s European Championships and is also eligible to play for Scotland.

Upon signing up with the Clarets, Levell said: “I’m really excited, the girls have been really welcoming.
“I can’t wait to give my experience and knowledge of the game to help Burnley Women get to where they belong.”
Head of Women’s Football Lola Ogunbote added: “With Kirstie joining us here at Burnley FC Women, we are adding experience and quality to our squad that will enable us to consistently compete at the highest level in all competitions this season.
“Kirstie leads by example and brings a level of professionalism that will help her teammates on and off the pitch.”

Manager Rebecca Sawiuk finished by saying: “Kirstie joins us from WSL side Leicester City and has valuable experience from the top level of the game.
“She will drive our standards and behaviour to be higher on and off the pitch.
“From my conversations with Kirstie she is a winner, and that mentality will be infectious in our team this season and her values and goals aligned nicely with the Club’s direction.
“She is an excellent shot stopper and her communication and leadership is felt amongst the group so I am really looking forward to working with Kirstie this season.
“A signing like this should excite all the Burnley fans out there.”
