Experienced midfielder Josh Laurent insists the Clarets must just focus on themselves and take it one match at a time, but is excited by the challenge that comes with pushing for promotion to the Premier League with only a few games to go.

The 29-year-old has been an integral figure in Scott Parker's side this season playing 38 games and is hoping one final push in the remaining games can 'get the job done' for Burnley.

Speaking to the press ahead of the trip to Coventry this weekend, with Burnley level with second placed Leeds United and two points off top spot, Laurent said: “To be honest, I've always said that we just focus on ourselves and just one game at a time."

“We’ve got to stay present, not get too far ahead and not look at anyone else too much. It is exciting though and hopefully we come out on the right side of it.

“As long as we do what we need to do, I'm sure everything will be alright. We've just got to focus on ourselves and make sure we get our job done.”

Laurent added: "I wouldn't want it any other way to be honest with you. It's a challenge and you've got to accept that challenge and look forward to it and relish it."

The Clarets have seven games remaining, including a challenging afternoon at the CBS Arena this weekend and Laurent is well aware of the test the Sky Blues will pose.

“There are some tough games coming up, but we've got to take it one game at a time and Saturday is a tough one against Coventry. It's a good team, but we'll be prepared for it, as always, and be working towards it as a team.
