Last week was a momentous occasion for Steven Croft as he was officially appointed Lancashire County Cricket Club’s Head Coach on a permanent basis.
To celebrate this new role, Croft, along with Dave Roberts (Director of Medical Services), Sam Byrne (First Team Physio), and Tom Webster (Head of Strength & Conditioning), spent the afternoon with Clarets boss Scott Parker and his backroom staff.
The cricket staff were given a tour of the Clarets training facilities and were able to see first-hand the inner workings of a Premier League Club and share ideas and best practices with their counterparts.
In his discussions, Parker and Croft delved into critical topics such as, coaching, team culture and man management, gaining valuable insights from the gaffer and his experiences both as a player and coach.
Having begun his transition into coaching in May 2023 after an illustrious career with over 600 appearances for Lancashire, Croft was eager for the opportunity to learn.
“It’s been an awesome day,” Croft reflected, emphasising the outstanding facilities and vibrant environment. “Spending time with the staff and coaches and discussing coaching philosophies with Scott has been incredibly beneficial.
"As someone new to the coaching side of sport, having conversations about culture and management has provided me with invaluable insights, that money can’t buy. I’m looking forward to Scott coming over to Old Trafford to cast an eye over what we do.”
