Manager Vincent Kompany admits his side didn't take their chances on Tuesday night as the Clarets fell to a 1-0 defeat at Molineux.
Hee Chan Hwang fired home from close range on the stroke of half time prior to the Clarets coming close through Jay Rodriguez, Josh Brownhill and Charlie Taylor moments earlier.
Speaking post-match in the Midlands, Kompany stated 'the game is decided in moments' and believes his team should have come away with their name on the score-sheet but had praise for the 'fight' within his squad.
The Burnley boss said: "The game is decided in moments and we had ours but we didn't take them tonight.
"Then with one of the few real chances we conceded, we conceded a goal from it. We can look at ourselves and say we should have scored in this game.
"We will have to do the usual analysis. I can imagine if something went wrong somebody has done something they maybe shouldn't have done, but in the end I don't think this game was decided by just one moment.
"I'm never going to sit here after a defeat and not feel the way i feel now, but i can be objective and i can be quite honest about what I'm seeing at the moment.
“What I’m seeing is a team that’s alive, a team that is in games and is fighting. We have to believe we’ve been in games for some time now, it’s not the first time we’ve played well. We have to believe this will give us results.”
Kompany added: "Did we do enough? I think we do all we can, always. That's what this time team does.
"The ball was still going into the area and in those moments, you're playing against teams with quality and you just have to make sure we stay in positions where you can get a result and today was close, really close.
The Clarets had been the better side up until the opening goal despite not finding the back of the net but when asked about the goal conceded, Kompany highlighted how many chances and goals his side had created and scored from a similar scenario in possession.
“If you line up all of the goals we’ve conceded this season, surely you’ve seen other types of goals as well?
“It’s not just been about one thing, that’s not been the theme. In the beginning, whenever we were open when the other team had the ball is when we had problems.
"We’ve had problems this season more often when the other team has had the ball and we were trying to recover it high up the pitch, that’s when we’ve been the most hurt.
“In situations like Wolves, if you go through our last five or six games we’ve created a lot of chances from it.
"The goal against Arsenal, the penalty against West Ham, if you go through them nearly all of our chances come from this.
“The point is more when you have those chances you have to take them. At the moment I’m not going to feel sorry for us at all, but this is where we need to step it up.”
