Manager Vincent Kompany believes his side can’t be too disappointed to come away from Ipswich Town with an Emirates FA Cup fourth round replay on the cards next month.
The Sky Bet Championship and League One top scorers couldn’t find a way through in an entertaining clash at Portman Road on Saturday afternoon.
Both sides struck the woodwork and had opportunities to steal late winners at both ends, but a goalless draw means the sides will meet in again in a couple of weeks with a fifth round spot on the line.
Speaking post-match in Suffolk, Burnley boss Kompany discussed his side’s performance and the usefulness of being able to use more of his squad in the competition.
Kompany said: “It was a real battle out there. It’s an FA Cup game away from home at one of the best teams in League one in front of a big crowd we can’t be disappointed with the result at all.
“It was everything we expected, Ipswich are a strong in-form side and we knew it would be a demanding fixture.
“I thought we were threatening throughout it was just the final ball and the decision making was difficult at times and sometimes it’s just them final details.
“These types of games can be good for us and it’s something that allowed us to use the whole squad and players to get more minutes who are coming back from injuries too.

The Clarets chief added: “I can look back at this game and I have seen many FA Cup games over the years and they can go the other way and you come away with nothing.
“So, for us we’re at home in the replay we will look forward to that and playing a cup game in front of our fans.”
Kompany handed a full debut to defender Ameen Al-Dakhil after signing from Sint Truiden earlier this month.
The centre-back was on hand to make a handful of excellent blocks and challenges throughout, keeping League One’s top scorers at bay and securing a clean sheet.
“I thought it was promising for a 20-year-old centre-back to come and start their first game at Ipswich Town away.
“Looking at his age, profile and talent – he is quite an exciting player to work with because I can see loads of things already that with improvements he will be even more comfortable.
“He didn’t look out of place and there was no better game for him to play in than today, so we’re pleased for him to have that first game.” Said Kompany.
