Manager Vincent Kompany admits he is looking forward to the return of Sky Bet Championship football, as the Clarets kickstart their second half of the season following the World Cup break.
The Clarets chief spoke to the media on Friday afternoon at the Burnley training centre, discussing Sunday's meeting with the R's, the benefit of the break, Anass Zaroury's World Cup experience and gives a squad fitness update.
Kompany on the break: "It's been good, it's been brilliant for us. Questions were asked if we would rather carry on, as we were doing well, I was definitely on the side thinking the break would be good for us.
"We have made full use of it, when you have a group of players playing, the best moment to learn is when you are playing, but that leaves a number of players who are maybe not learning at the same pace.
"It is unusual to get a lengthy break mid-season, the players got 10 days off then got back on the pitch on the team to go through things we wanted to improve on.
"When you get more time on the training pitch you can go into detail, it's been good for us but we are looking forward to the return now."
Kompany on Sunday's clash with QPR: "It's happened a few times this season, where there has been a managerial change ahead of the game.
"Especially when we have had such a long break to prepare, you tend to focus on your own team more.
"But, whatever happens on the day we have to be ready, we know they are a good side with good players, it will be a test but we'll be ready."
Kompany on Zaroury's World Cup experience: "He's part of something special, he's part of a team that is making history.
"Through him we get to be a very tiny part of the World Cup and tiny part of his country's success and we all wish him the best whilst he is still there.
"On top of all of his talent he is disciplined and you can rely on him to do every aspect of the game and then comes his talent.
"That what makes him such a valuable player, for the national team in the future and for us and now he is going to have a completely different experience and hopefully he can pick it up where he left it when he gets back to Burnley."
Kompany on the squad's fitness: "Good. That's one of the things with this team, if i go from what I have seen, we will be ready to go on Sunday.
"You go straight into a game where anything can happen, but the fitness levels have been good so far."
