Boss Vincent Kompany had high praise for his side’s performance as Burnley secured a 28th win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Bristol City.
The Clarets secured all three points through Manuel Benson and Jay Rodriguez goals at Ashton Gate with Tommy Conway netting in-between.
Speaking post-match in Bristol, Kompany described the result as a ‘job well done’ and hailed his team’s efforts to come away with the win.
Kompany said: “I thought we were very good today. The first half was fantastic, we created lots of chances and looked really dangerous going forward.
“The only negative if there is one, would be maybe the end product could have been slightly better when taking our chances.
“It’s a difficult ground to come to, they have a strong record at home this season and they made it as difficult as possible for us.
“We can be proud of the performance and the result with two nice goals to top it off.
“It’s a job well done for us and a very good win and I’m pleased we are heading home with the three points.”
Benson opened the scoring just past the half-hour mark with a sweet curled effort into the far corner for the fourth successive match.
Rodriguez then regained the Clarets’ lead with a composed finish just two minutes after the Robins had equalised on the hour.
Kompany hailed the pair’s strikes and gave a special mention to Rodriguez after the striker found the net for the first time in 2023 following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
“I’m really pleased for Jay. You could see how much it meant to him and how important it was.
“He has missed the last three months through injury and I think if he had been fit all that time he would have over 20 goals, I do feel for him.
“I feel for him but we wouldn’t be where we are today without Jay’s impact at the start of the season, he was pivotal to our success.
“Benny (Benson) is just doing his thing at the moment. His confidence is through the roof and you can see it.
“He was magnificent again today for us and it was another fantastic goal from him.”
