Burnley boss Vincent Kompany was delighted to see the fans leave Turf Moor happy on Tuesday night, following the Clarets' 2-0 win over Millwall.
Post-match he spoke about his happiness with the clean sheet, developing depth in the squad and what new signing Anass Zaroury will bring to the side.
Kompany on the performance:
“It was a long time coming, we’d put some good performances in at home and never really got the reward for it. This felt right, it felt like a good game.
“We love the crowd. The stadium was bouncing, it was another special atmosphere. I don’t know if every performance will be the same but if we can reward the fans with hard work and what this team shows in energy and passion, give them something to look forward to, then that’s all we can hope for.”
Kompany on Tella & Muric:
“There are no concerns for Nathan. You do 97 sprints a game you know, cramp, that happens. You can’t underestimate how much he opens up space for his teammates. He takes a lot of knocks, we need to make sure we keep him fit and enjoying his football.
“Aro we have to see. We did a scan, there was no structural damage. He’s a tough guy. We will have to see.”

Kompany on Vitinho:
“Vitinho, because I’ve followed him for a couple of years now, he’s always had creativity in his game, but he’s also got a lot of maturity in his game now. He knows his job in wide areas and makes those runs. I keep saying it, this player will still improve. He’s 22 years old. We rely on the older players in the squad, but with Vitinho he’s going to keep improving.
“He’s got a lot of elements this team need, he puts a shift in, which is important to me. However, his creativity is so helpful to the team.”
Kompany on the clean sheet:
“My defender’s heart was particularly pleased with that. Millwall doesn’t give you an easy clean sheet. They have strong players coming in for flick ons, we had to deal with that. The players battled for the clean sheet; it was a team effort.
“The lads deserved it, I thought they were brave, winning second balls. It’s something that worked well for us today.”
Kompany on new signing Anass Zaroury:
“Anass finds gaps against teams who sit deep. He can take players on, like Benson, Johann, Vitinho.
“He’s part of a strong Belgian U21s team. For me he’s a big talent. I hope we can turn him into an even better player for us here.”
