Manager Vincent Kompany was pleased his side got the job done on Tuesday night, as an Anass Zaroury brace and Ashley Barnes goal saw the Clarets beat Crawley Town 3-1 and book their spot in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
Post-match the Clarets chief spoke about the progression, Zaroury's impact from the bench and importance of the competition.
Kompany on the victory:
"I'm really happy, I think we did as well as we could have done on the night.
"The focus was there in the team, we made one mistake which led to their goal which can happen in these type of games.
"We created some good opportunities, created some chances and got the goals.
"So, overall I think we did everything right that we needed to do and to win this game."
Kompany on the Carabao Cup and rotation:
"It is a competition that I want to give enough to, for me all these games are significant. If you lose today it gives you a very sour feeling going into a very important game.
"But I do think it (the changes) is common sense given how hectic the schedule is. We want to utilise the squad and we put a lot of time and effort into the players the fans don't see every day and I am happy they get to go and carry the torch for us.
"We depend on another set of players and they showed they are making progress which was good. There wasn't much difference in how we played because we changed players, we played the same way."
Kompany on Zaroury's goals from the bench:
"We started with Dara (Costelloe) who did well, then Anass comes in and he scored a real good strikers goal, arriving at the back post.
"It's an important way to get your goals, being in the right place at the right time.
"But I'm happy for him, he deserved them and he topped off a good team performance."
Kompany on Joe Bauress and Marcel Lewis making their debut:
"It's not like I wanted to force an appearance or anything like that, the kid has done really well.
"Marcel Lewis as well, he has done well, but they have to keep their heads down and keep working hard.
"The next opportunity might not be soon, but we'll be there with them along the way and if they progress they will be players of Burnley Football Club, it's great to have young talents like these."
