CJ Egan-Riley was full of praise for his teammates following Tuesday evening's Carabao Cup 3-1 win against Crawley Town.

The defender spoke post-match on going behind but being confident that by sticking to the game plan the team would comeback.

Egan-Riley on the result:

“I’m buzzing, as well as the lads are to be fair. We know how important the league is and we’re doing so well in that, and we need to keep it up. As well, it just shows today how good the squad is, not just the team that are normally playing or the players that have had more minutes this season.

“The fact we can come here at home against a tough team who gave us a tough test. They played quite deep, and they were hard to break down, fair play to them. However, we stuck to it to the end and showed our quality which was good. I’m proud of the team and I’m happy with the performance.”

Egan-Riley on Crawley’s opener:

“Obviously, it was quite a crazy goal to be fair, I was a bit shocked, but everyone just said keep going, we’re still in the first half, we’d already had chances before that. We knew chances would come so we just needed to keep pushing and, in the end, we got our rewards in the second half.”

Egan-Riley on the importance of the quick equaliser:

“It’s better, if you concede and you score straight away, you’re back even so we just kept pushing forward, playing our game and that was it. It gave us a boost for sure.”

Egan-Riley on his start:

“It was good, I’ve been enjoying my time, loving it here this season, just being in and around the lads, it’s a great group. We’re doing so well in the league, and we need to keep that up. I just need to keep working hard, try to show in games like this that I can play in the team, keep trying to impress the manager, work hard everyday and just see where my chances come and take them.”
