Manager Vincent Kompany was impressed with his side's second half performance against Ipswich Town as the Clarets sealed an Emirates FA Cup fifth round tie with Fleetwood Town.
Nathan Tella opened the scoring with just 46 seconds played before George Hirst equalised for Town just a minute later. Tella then fired in the winner in the fourth minute of stoppage time to book Burnley's place in the last 16 of the competition.
Kompany had plenty of praise for the Tractor Boys' efforts against the Clarets but believes his side edged the game and deserved to go on and win the tie.
Speaking post-match at Turf Moor, Kompany said: “I thought it was a poor first half but the second half was much better. We played some good things, I’d have liked to have scored a couple more goals but we can be pleased with it.
“We played some good football with some good intensity we knew it would be a difficult game and that’s what we expected.
“In the end I thought we deserved the win and we just edged it in the second half, we created some good opportunities and chances throughout.
“Also credit to the opposition, there is not a big difference between Ipswich and some of the sides in the Championship for sure.
“But, overall we are pleased to get through to the next round and continue the cup run and look forward to the next round.”
Kompany added: “It was good to give opportunities to others too and we are going to need the full squad with all these games.
“We have to utilise the squad and be able to rely on others when called upon, but that has to be our strength now in these upcoming busy weeks.”
Tella's strike's in the first and last minute of the game saw him take his tally to 11 in all competitions for the season.
Kompany applauded the forward's performance and the goals that saw the Clarets reach the fifth round of the competition.
"He has shown us over the course of the season of what he is capable of and he has shown that again tonight.
"We're pleased for him he has worked hard and he's got two good goals tonight, so overall a nice night for us and for Nathan."
