Clarets chief reviews impressive win over Huddersfield

Manager Vincent Kompany had high praise for his side's performance and goals in the 4-0 thrashing over Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

The Clarets dominated the Terriers and secured all three points with goals from Ashley Barnes, Connor Roberts, Josh Brownhill and Michael Obafemi.

Speaking post-match, Kompany applauded the attacking threat displayed throughout the game and the joy of sending home a full Turf Moor with smiles on faces.

The Burnley boss said: "Firstly, you look back on the game and we're sending 20,00 fans home with smile on their face with a good weekend.

"We’ve had many good performances, we created chances but didn’t score everyone so it wasn’t perfect , but overall an all-round great performance.

"It was 19 shots on Tuesday, 22 today and I was pleased we were able to score a few today and we just looked threatening throughout.

"It’s not common to have your full backs making runs from in behind and your centre backs making driving runs, we needed that different variety today and it worked."

Kompany added: "I'm just happy when they (goals) go in, if you have a variety of attack, you have a variety of goal-scorers and that's what we had again today.

“Its a special place for us here and it has to be. I look at this place as our home and you protect your home and anyone that comes in here needs to feel threatened as we defend our territory.”

Jordan Beyer returned to the defence and partnered Hjalmar Ekdal following a brief spell on the side-lines through injury.

Kompany also hailed the defensive work his side showed to secure a 14th clean sheet this season.

“We started the transfer window in January wondering if we needed any incoming players and really it has been crucial for us.

"We signed two centre-back's with Hjalmar and Ameen. Then we had the Hjalmar integration, Al-Dakhil integration and they have both settled in just fine.

"Hjalmar looks like been here a long time now, he's settled in really well but he can get so much better as well.

"But it was good for Jordan today to come back and help us in defence, it was another great performance."
