Boss Vincent Kompany admitted he was 'very pleased' his side were able to find a way past Fleetwood Town on Wednesday night as Connor Roberts' late goal secured an Emirates FA Cup quarter final place for the Clarets.
Burnley had 31 shots on goal, made 734 passes and enjoyed 77% possession but the Cods made it a difficult night for the hosts to break through the resilient Town defence.
Roberts turned in the ball from close range with just two minutes left to play to seal a 1-0 victory, which booked the Clarets' place in the quarter final of the competition for the first time in 20 years.
Speaking post-match at Turf Moor, Kompany said: "We had 31 shots today, it was a really good performance from us.
"Fleetwood made it as hard as they could on the night and credit to them for that, but I think with all these shots one will eventually go in and if we had to play another half an hour of extra time then I think we would have still found a way too.
"I didn't feel we had to lose our nerves or doing anything different as time went on and all the substitutes that came on made a great impact for us.
"In the end I thought Darko, Halil, Nathan, Johann, and Connor all made a great impact and played a part towards the win too, so I'm happy for them."
The Clarets chief added: "It was a scrappy goal but I like them sorts of goals it found the back of the net and that's all that matters for us tonight.
"Overall I'm really happy that we got through to the quarter final, but now we have three important fixtures to focus on before then."
Roberts's winner on Wednesday night was the 27-year-old's second goal in successive matches after scoring in the 4-0 win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
Prior to Saturday, the Welsh defender had only scored two goals in his last 50 appearances for club and country but Kompany had plenty of praise for the full-back's recent performances.
Kompany said: "It’s crucial the goals are spread across the team and we have spoke about this a few times this season it really is crucial.
"With Connor he has been in the right areas and I believe being in the right areas gets you the goals, so full credit to him for that.
"I think he has that sense to get in that right place at the right time and he has shown that recently for us.
"He’s had a handful of goals and assist this season and I’m pleased for him again tonight."
