Burnley boss Vincent Kompany felt they didn’t get what they deserved against Manchester United at Turf Moor tonight.
The teams were separated by a solitary goal scored by Bruno Fernandes just before half time -leaving the manager with mixed emotions.
“Hopeful because of the performance and the character but disappointed because of the result.
"It feels like a week of good performances but maybe not the reward. We could have had a result today. We showed quality and we have to believe that’s what will get us results.
“It’s a tough start, tough schedule to start with. We’ll find our moments.”
The Clarets could have scored twice in the opening period of the game only to be denied by a top save and the woodwork.
“That’s life at the top level for us. It’s going to be about these moments. But we’re there every single time. We knew it was going to be hard graft and we’re prepared to do that work. You see signs of a good team and consistency.
“That’s two good performances and we have to keep going.”
Another full house at Turf Moor backed Burnley all the way to the final whistle.
“We had tremendous support. On another day the last moment of the game gives us something more and I think the key thing for me is that we didn’t have to suffer the game. We were in the game and trying to impose our ideas as well and I think that gives results.
“Saying you want results - I don’t believe in that. Working for results and improving and getting your habits and your standards right - I believe that gets results and we keep that in this squad."
