Boss Vincent Kompany praised his side for coming away with all three points from a 'difficult' Hull City on Wednesday night in the Sky Bet Championship.
The Clarets secured a 24th win of the campaign with victory over City at the MKM Stadium thanks to Nathan Tella's fine hat-trick in the pouring Yorkshire rain.
Speaking post-match in Hull, Kompany was pleased to get through a potential 'dangerous game' and hailed his side's work rate to break down the Tigers.
Kompany said: "These types of results are good, its a tough away game to come and it was a game that could be dangerous for us, but we got through it.
"Hull were really up for it from the start and you could see that, but it was really important for us to win here today.
"It wasn't a total complete dominant performance and we had to fight hard at times and battle for the ball.
"I thought they made it difficult for us, we had to work for the ball, press well and break them down, but I'm just pleased we found a way in the end in a really difficult fixture."

Kompany added: "It is the business end of the season now as they call it and I'm just really happy for lads that they got through another tricky away game.
"To score the three goals like we did is also a great achievement. Any game away from home to get three is a good effort."
Tella's second hat-trick of the season saw the forward move to 17 goals in the Championship and 19 in all competitions after hitting a fine run of form since the new year.
Kompany had plenty of credit for the 23-year-old and admitted how much he enjoys working with the on-loan striker.
"Nathan is doing brilliant. I think its a breakthrough season for him as a young player with great talent.
"He's caught a real wave of momentum and he is just clinical at the moment in front of goal, he's working really hard.
"It's a reflection of where he is at the moment, he deserves the credit he is getting for his record in front of goal and his application every day.
"Nathan knows he has a lot of work to do, improvements to be made and he doesn’t take his foot off the gas at any point and we really enjoy working with him."
