Double scoop for Clarets pair for Sky Bet Championship accolades

Vincent Kompany and defender Ian Maatsen have won the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month and Player of the Month Award's for January respectively.

The Clarets won all three of their league fixtures last month being the only team to do so across the Championship, with Maatsen starting all three.

Kompany's side started the year with a 2-1 win at Swansea City thanks to a fabulous brace from Maatsen.

Burnley followed that victory up with wins over Coventry City and West Bromwich Albion at Turf Moor, which saw an impressive winning run in the league continue.

After winning the award for the third time this season, Kompany said: "I'm delighted to have been awarded this again, up against some great managers in this league.

"Thank you to all the players and staff that have played a part to this; the coaching staff, physios, medical, sports science, analysts, grounds staff, kitchen staff and everybody else involved.

"It has been a great start to the year for us and we hope that can continue going forward and the hard work doesn't stop."

Last weekend's man-of-the-match Maatsen said: "I am really happy and grateful to win this award. Thank you to my teammates and family that have made this happen.
