Former goalkeeper Brian Jensen insists the Turf Moor crowd need to create a 'hostile atmosphere' for visiting teams this season as the Clarets return to Premier League football.
Jensen, known as 'Beast' to many, was in attendance at the Club's 'Fixture Breakfast' this morning for the 2023/24 fixtures reveal where Burnley found out they will host treble winners Manchester City on the opening night of the Premier League season.
The Clarets will entertain City on Friday 11th August live on Sky Sports and Jensen says that 'anything can happen' on the opening day of the season and the Turf Moor supporters need to 'make it a difficult place to come'.
“It’s not going to get any tougher than that is it. Like I said earlier though anything can happen on the opening day of the season.
“They have a lot of talent and huge squad depth but we’ll just have to wait and see and hopefully make Turf Moor a fortress and the fans play their part.
“Like we saw 14 years ago, anything can happen against the former champions in the first home game of the season.
“The fans just need to create that hostile atmosphere and make it a difficult place to come for teams." Said Jensen.

The last time Burnley hosted the reigning Premier League champions in their first home game of the season was back in 2009/10 when Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United came to town.
Jensen was between the sticks that day for the Clarets and the goalkeeper denied Michael Carrick from the spot as Burnley ran out 1-0 winners in a memorable victory against the champions.
The Copenhagen-born 'keeper said: “It was brilliant, it really was. Just to get them points on the board against the champions and for us to go in and win that game was just immaculate and an unbelievable experience.
“I saved the penalty against (Michael) Carrick and that was a nice moment but the atmosphere around the place was amazing and it’s important that the fans make it like that night again."
