Manager Vincent Kompany says kicking off Burney's Premier League season in front of a packed out Turf Moor against reigning champions Manchester City is the perfect curtain raiser.
It was revealed the champions of the EFL Championship will face the Premier League's champions on the opening night of the season when the fixtures for the upcoming campaign were revealed this morning.
The Clarets will host Pep Guardiola's men in the first game of the 2023/24 Premier League season on Friday 11th August (8pm) live on Sky Sports and when the treble winners come to Turf Moor Kompany knows the Burnley fans can play a big part.
“It’s great we can start the Premier League campaign in front of our own fans with a home match.”
“Burnley supporters helped make Turf Moor a fortress last season and we’ll look to them this season to continue that.”
Kompany continued : “We all know every match this season is massive but for the reigning champions of the Championship to face the Premier League champions feels like the perfect curtain raiser!”
