Burnley FC U21 midfielders Tommy McDermott and Will Hugill received special mementos in recognition of their first senior appearances for the Clarets recently.
Manager Scott Parker presented the pair with their framed match-worn shirts from the Carabao Cup tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers in August, a night that will live long in both the players’ memories.
Having previously been included in the matchday squad for the Club’s Sky Bet Championship game at Sunderland, McDermott was introduced as a half-time substitute at Molineux.
Boyhood Clarets fan Hugill, who captained the U21s during the 2023/24 season, was also on the bench at the Stadium of Light before coming on in the 80th minute at Wolves.
In a special presentation at Burnley's Training Ground, players, and staff from the first team and U21s group came together to recognise the pair’s achievements.

On the presentation, Hugill said: “I’ve been a Burnley fan all my life, I joined when I was 16. I was a Scholar with the Club and ended up getting a contract after that. It’s been really good; I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. Obviously growing up supporting Burnley it’s where I want to be - playing football for the Club you’ve supported."
McDermott added: “For me it was more not even wanting to get on for myself but to be part of the team and to see how much effort the coaches, the players and the staff put into matchday weeks. It’s immense. You just want to get on and make everyone proud, the Gaffar, all the players. There’s no better feeling, especially after you’ve had a taste of it you just want more, you just want to keep getting on the pitch.”
Congratulations Will and Tommy!
