Women’s team visit Hapton Primary with BFCitC

Ahead of International Women’s Day (IWD), women’s team players Heidi and Millie Chandarana paid a special visit to Hapton Primary School.

Teaming up with Burnley FC in the Community, the pair took part in a powerful celebration of IWD 2026 — a year driven by the global call to accelerate action for women in the workplace.

The visit began with a whole‑school assembly where children explored the purpose of International Women’s Day and reflected on the priorities for 2026.

Heidi and Millie shared their personal journeys into football, speaking openly about resilience, self-belief, and the determination needed to pursue their goals.

Their stories sparked curiosity and genuine excitement amongst the group, who asked thoughtful questions about dreams, challenges, and ambitions.

The inspiration continued following the assembly, where a group of girls took part in a practical session led by the players. Skills grew, confidence soared, and teamwork shone, providing a powerful reminder of how representation opens doors and expands horizons.

One teacher captured the impact perfectly, saying: “Having Heidi and Millie visit our school was absolutely incredible.

“The children were completely captivated and seeing strong, successful women in football made their ambitions feel real and reachable. It’s a day they will remember for a very long time.”
