Amelia Hazard has expressed her and her team-mates’ desire to flourish in as many competitions as possible ahead of tonight’s FA Women’s National League Cup determining round tie with AFC Fylde.
It’s a competition that’s new to the midfielder, who joined the Clarets from Championship side Lewes in the summer.
“Cup games are always fun,” she said.
“We want to be in as many competitions as we can for as long as possible, so I’m excited to get going with my first league cup game.
“I think it will be a good game and a tough test – we’ll keep working on the things that we want to be working on and hopefully move into the League Cup competition.”

AFC Fylde are a team that are familiar to Burnley, with Rebecca Sawiuk’s side beating the Coasters three times last season.
Hazard admits that she is less familiar with the Lancashire outfit, who now operate in the fourth tier following relegation from our league at the end of 2023/24.
However, that won’t affect her or the team’s’ preparations for the match.
The 23-year-old continued: “It will be a similar mentality to how we go into any league game.
“We can’t underestimate any team, whether that be in the league or the cup, and we’ll be sure to show the same high level of professionalism that we expect from ourselves.
“Everybody likes winning games, so the more we can do that and keep the momentum going, the better.”

Hazard has enjoyed a fruitful start to the season, playing the entirety of our opening day victory over Hull City and netting her first Clarets goal before notching a further 70 minutes against Stourbridge.
The visit of the Tigresses was at Nelson FC’s Daisy Communications Arena, which plays host to tonight’s cup tie too.
“It’s a proper northern ground!” the midfielder said
“I’m excited to play there again, particularly with the second half be likely to be under the lights.
“The fans were great, too, and made a real impact – so I’m looking forward to going back.”
Kick-off at the Daisy Communications Arena (BB7 9BN) is 7.45pm, and tickets will be available on the turnstiles at £5 for adults and £2 for juniors. Payment can be made via cash or card.
