Players meet children at Burnley FC in the Community’s Easter Activity Camp

Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Manuel Benson made a special visit to Burnley FC in the Community’s Leisure Box facility in Brierfield on Monday, to stop by an Easter Activity Camp.

The players met children playing football on the 4G pitch, answered questions, posed for photos, handed out medals and took a tour of the state of the art facility. In addition to the football fun, the Activity Camp delivered activities including dodgeball, climbing and arts and crafts, with the two players also presented with personalised Easter cards from the children.

On the visit Harwood-Bellis said: “It’s been really good to see the children playing and enjoying the different types of sports and seeing all the different facilities. It’s really good to see them all happy and enjoying socialising with each other, it was really enjoyable.

When asked of the importance of players from the club getting out into the community, he added: “It’s massive, just to meet the kids who are buzzing to see you. It makes you feel good that you can kind of make their day type of thing.

“It’s good to get out and see them enjoying themselves with their friends and playing football, which is what we all love to do.

Harwood-Bellis made his first start in the league in the Clarets goalless draw with Sunderland last week, following an injury sustained in January’s visit to AFC Bournemouth in the FA Cup.

“It was massive [to be back playing]. That’s the first 90 minutes I’ve played since I’ve been back fit. Yeah, it was really good to be back with the team. Just finding my feet, getting used to it again as, obviously I’ve not played with the team. I played a few with the U23s but it’s a different intensity playing Sunderland at home. I really enjoyed it, it was good to be back with the fans, the atmosphere and everything. It’s what I love to do, I’ve said it many a time, playing in front of the fans at the Turf, it’s massive - it’s my happy place!”

It's a big week for Burnley with games against third placed Middlesbrough and second placed Sheffield United in the space of three days.

“It’s the same as every week [our mindset]. We all say it, the manager says it, each game at a time. It’s obviously a massive one against Middlesbrough, we know how well they’re doing. We prepare this week as we normally do, put the graft in in training and then we’ll be ready for Friday. Whatever happens the fans will be there to support us, and we can hopefully give them a good day out.”
