Quilindschy Hartman has made quite the impact since joining the Clarets in the summer. Featuring heavily for Scott Parker's side so far this campaign, the left-back is raring to go against Manchester City on Saturday and says he's 'living his dream' in the Premier League.

“I'm expecting Saturday's game to be the same as Liverpool a little bit. I think probably the two biggest teams, together with Arsenal, in the league, so looking forward to playing against them. That's why I'm here, that's why we're here, to play against the best players, so I'm looking forward to it.”

Does the Dutchman feel the squad have had a good week's preparation for the fixture?

“Yes. I mean obviously losing in the cup was not what we wanted of course. But for the rest of us, I think we’ve had enough time to prepare for the game on Saturday. Also, in our heads, the game we had against Liverpool, I think that's quite similar. So, I think it's good that we’ve experienced it now already one time. Hopefully, we can take the extra percentage to maybe get a little more.”

The Clarets have been unlucky on occasions this season, however Head Coach Scott Parker said he has taken positives from how competitive the team have been against tough opposition, and Hartman agrees.

“I feel the same. Before the season started I was thinking ok how is this going to look when we play the big teams, is the difference going to be that big?

“The last few years, I think the teams that got promoted there was a big difference between them and the other teams. But I feel like we’ve been competitive, like the Gaffer said. That’s a good thing.

“Obviously, the game against United we fell short just a little bit in the last dying seconds. Overall, I think we can look back to it with a good feeling because we were competitive and there were a lot of points we can take for the coming games and the rest of the season.”

And how happy has he been with the impact he's made so far?

"I think I’m doing alright! It’s already nice that I’m playing, I haven’t missed a minute so that’s a good thing.

“We’re competitive so it’s nice to be on the pitch. I think I’ve done alright up to now. The guys around me make it quite easy for me because this is a team who like to work hard and really go for it. So that makes it easy to come in and do the same.

“To now I’m quite satisfied with how it’s going personally.”

As full-backs Hartman has also formed a good connection with somebody that knows Saturday's opponents very well, Kyle Walker.

“It’s true [formed a good connection]. In pre-season I felt there were a lot of times where he had the ball, and he had the cross ball, and I was there. I think that’s a weapon we have. I know he can kick it very far, even if the ball is a little bit under him, so when he has the ball, I’m more aware, ok this is the moment to go. So that’s nice.

“It’s also nice to play with him as a full-back because I can learn so much from him. He’s played and won so many games in the Premier League, so I think everyone in Burnley and myself should be very happy that he is in our team.”

A few months in, is Hartman happy with how he's settled into life in Lancashire? Is it what he expected?

“It’s better than I expected, in terms of the stadium is always full, the atmosphere is good. I feel a lot of appreciation on social media and also in the stadium. I feel like the fans are really behind us, so that’s a good thing.

“I’m living my dream and I’m enjoying my time over here. I’m looking forward to the coming games, especially at Turf Moor because it’s a nice atmosphere, they’re nice people as well. Up to now it’s been very good.”

Finally, the Etihad poses another tough test for the travelling Clarets this weekend, but Hartman believes the visitors will have their chances.

“I think it’s going to be a little bit similar to Liverpool. Ideally, we would like to have the ball a little bit more than against Liverpool. I think defensively we did very well but at times we would like to have the ball and create our chances.

“Until now we’ve been competitive, so I feel like we’re going to get our chances again on Saturday. We’ve got to try everything to get a result.”
