Burnley Women are looking forward to returning to the pitch after a longer than usual break this weekend, according to defender Naomi Hartley.
By the time Sunday’s league fixture at Derby County comes around, it will be three weeks since the team’s last outing against Newcastle United.
Three fixtures have since been curtailed by the effects of the weather and Hartley, affectionately known as ‘Nom’ by her team-mates, explained the feeling amongst the group.
“The mood’s very positive”, she said.
“Obviously we’ve had a couple of weeks without a game now, so we’re raring to go.
“I don’t think it (the break) has had too much of an impact; we just want to get back out on to the pitch and put on a good performance for everybody watching.”

Rebecca Sawiuk’s team are yet to face Derby, who sit 5th in the Northern Premier Division of the Women’s National League table, this season.
The Ewes boast an unusual statistic of not drawing any of their league games this season, winning six and losing seven, and come into the game on the back of a momentum building FA WNL Plate semi-final victory over Exeter City.
Hartley continued: “Derby have a good group of players and can be quite direct, but we’re just focusing on ourselves.
“The Newcastle game was a bit of a dent in our chances but we know that if we continue to do everything right, we’ll give ourselves the best possible chance heading into the rest of the season.
“A win would be massive.”

Emma Siddall and Monique Robinson made their Claret debuts against Newcastle, with fellow new additions Paris Dalton and Abby Clarke available to Sawiuk this weekend.
“The new players have settled in well”, Hartley added.
“I think we’re a good group and they’ve all bought different attributes. They’re grand girls and I’m looking forward to seeing them play.”
Kick-off at the Don Amott Arena, home of Mickleover FC (DE3 9FC) is 2pm, with tickets available to purchase at £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
