Manager Vincent Kompany states that the mindset of his squad is to 'try and win every game' and the full focus for his team is to try and achieve their first three points of the 2023/24 campaign this Sunday.
The Clarets have played only once this campaign and take on an in-form Aston Villa at Turf Moor this weekend, who have already played three times this season including a UEFA Conference League fixture at Hibernian on Wednesday.
Kompany says the first victory of the season 'will come when it comes' but his team will prepare to their best ahead of Sunday and the side can't dwell on the previous games across the season.
The Burnley boss said: "If you have the mindset that we have and that is ‘try and win every game’ then really the only thing we focus on is the next game.
"For me, I’m fine with it, I think the first win will come when it comes. I don’t think we have to think too much about it.
"Whatever happened in the past is not so important. It’s the next game and we’ll prepare with everything we can to get the result we can at home."
Speaking to the media on Friday afternoon, Kompany is well aware of the threat that Unai Emery's side will pose and had high praise for the Villans' start to the season.
"It's a very impressive squad. You can see it’s one of those squads who have settled into the Premier League a little bit now.
"They’ve been able to have a few rounds of recruitment and a few rounds of developing their own players and it’s a robust team.
"They're athletic, good speed, definitely worth being a part of discussion for that top eight in England which is such a high standard, such a high level.
"I think I’ve already gathered that there’s not gonna be any easy games for us this season so kinda approach it the same way we approach any game and try and give ourselves a chance to win the game. That’s what we want."
The Clarets added two more new signings to their squad this week to take the total number of summer signing up to 11.
Defender Hannes Delcroix arrived from RSC Anderlecht on a three-year deal and Aaron Ramsey joined from Sunday's opponents Villa on a five-year contract.
Speaking on the pair, Kompany said: "For me they are both extremely talented. I think the crop of players we have brought in this summer, Aaron and Wilson (Odobert) are probably the younger ones that have a bright future.
"We have no doubt they will be really exciting players to watch for our fans and any neutral fan who likes good football players.
"In terms of Hannes, he's little bit more senior and a little bit more experienced. A Belgian international, someone who has played European games and with the physicality that’s required for the Premier League. So we’re excited to work with him."
