Lyle Foster was disappointed to narrowly lose out to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon but said he was proud of the team's second half performance.
The striker, who scored his first goal of the campaign on the day was unlucky to see his second ruled out as offside, in what was a lively encounter in the Manchester rain.
“I'm disappointed for the game to end the way it ended. I feel like we deserved something from the game, for it to end in that way I think it was a bit unjust.
“It is what it is, unfortunate. We played really well, and I think we can be proud of that.”
An own goal put the home side ahead in the first half but the Clarets fought back in the second 45 and Foster was proud of the fight.
“The first half we were a bit taken aback by the way they came. I don’t think we expected them to come the way they did. We didn’t have our footing really, lost in a sense. But I think we came in at half-time, the Gaffer obviously changed a few things, and it was a different mindset going out.
“In the second half we did really well, we stressed them at the back. We were able to create some good chances, and I think at the end of the day it was a really good game for people watching.”
And how special a feeling was scoring at Old Trafford?
“For sure, it’s a dream for me, growing up having watched this my whole life. Being at Old Trafford and scoring is something I dreamt of but never thought would become reality. I thank God for this beautiful moment. But at the same time, I don’t understand with the second goal. I feel like it was unjust.
“I’m grateful to have scored and more than anything for the performance by the team. That’s why I feel like it stings so much to walk away with nothing.”
