Lewis Forshaw has signed his first professional contract with Burnley, committing until the summer of 2026.
The goalkeeper, who turns 18 later this month, has completed his two-year scholarship with the Clarets having previously been at Manchester United.
After picking up an injury soon after joining the Club, Forshaw recovered and vied for minutes in Tony Philliskirk’s U18s side last season.
2023/24 saw the shot stopper gain senior experience on loan at Lancaster City and Avro FC before returning to play with the U18s and U21s in the second half of the campaign.
In total, the teenager made 18 appearances at U18s level and four for the U21s.
Having put pen to paper on his new deal, Forshaw said: “I’m very pleased for it to finally get done and I’m really happy to be staying here for another couple of years.
“My loan spells were good experiences in different environments, and I think they made me a bit more mature.
“I did well with the U18s here in games and in training and was given a chance to play for the U21s, which is a big step up but I think I did well. It was good to start to build relationships with the boys too.
“Hopefully next season I can play as many games as possible and earn some more first-team training experiences.”
Academy Manager David Longwell added: “Lewis has produced some very good performances this season, especially in the FA Youth Cup.
“He has shown a lot of progression and we think he has the potential to keep improving and play at the next level, hence he was integrated into the U21s group towards the end of the season.
“We’re delighted that he has signed this new deal and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Connor King, our Head of Academy Goalkeeping, who has done a great job in coaching and supporting Lewis in his development.”
